I would have 33% fewer battlesuit platoons in total.

That would mean frequent changes in the chain of command. If you
have two-suit teams, two teams per squad, two or three squads per
platoon, the teams always stay the same. If you split a six-suit
squad into two-suit or three-suit teams, the teams must be 
reorganized. 

The US Army field manuals for HMMWV-based cavalry scout platoons
talk about different team organizations, based on the need for 
multiple teams. Because Scouts are better qualified than line 
infantry?

The skill definitions from 3E say that battlesuits are armed while
armored exoskeletons lack integral weaponry.
