You could treat the battlesuit platoon much the same way that the US Army used 
independent tank companies (or even platoons) attached to infantry companies.

If there is a clear chain of command, my suggestion should work.

Yeah ... I always had a problem with the Battlesuit skill giving free Guns, 
Gunner and Beam Weapons skills. I'd rather it not cover weapon use, built in or 
not.
