Dear List, the rules in GURPS Vehicles set the volume for quarters at 100 cf (bunks or hammocks), 250/500 cf (double and single occupancy cabins), or 500/1,000 cf (double and single occupancy luxury cabins). GURPS Traveller added empty space to the stateroom modules to bring them to almost 2,000 cf for one or two people. The 4E Spaceships rules don't talk about volume. A cabin for 1-2 people or a bunkroom for 4 people talkes 7.5 tons, including the 'slice' of the hull and fittings.
The Apollo capsule had 218 cf living space and 366 cf pressurized space for three. The Space Shuttle had 2,325 cf with seven seats and four "sleeping stations". A Winnebago is the size of a small bus, with slide-out sections to create extra space, and it has room for four or five people. If I look at movies and TV shows like Alien, Star Wars, Star Trek, Babylon 5, Stargate, ... the spacecraft have much more room for their crews. That could be a cinematic necessity -- room for the actors and the camera crew -- or it means that spacers will get more than the minimum room from the Vehicles rules. How do you explain that, if the setting doesn't have post-scarcity economics? On the other hand, it seems that an X-Wing with no bunks or toilets can be used for interstellar travel. What is a reasonable minimum volume for small interstellar craft? By the 3E rules, you could take two cramped seats with superior access and one bunk or hammock (180 cf total) for every three people, but hot-bunking player characters may not be a good idea -- they tend to get injured, or pick up extra passengers, or whatever.
