If Window-Eyes is stopped and restarted with your batch file below, won't it simply crash again as soon as that unresponsive application is encountered using a command such as alt-tab? Yes but there's a little hope and at least 2 work arounds at this time. These work arounds definitely are worth giving them a try because if they work in which they do for me most of the time they are much better than doing a reboot of the computer. The first one of these 2 work arounds is to use nvda non visual desktop. When you encounter an unresponsive window/application, if you use the free screen reader, non visual desktop, and deal with the nonresponsive application most of the time window-eyes will be talking again without having to close it. However closing window-eyes with a batch file or script and then reopening doesn't always get you much. Then again, for some reason when you relaunch window-eyes it for some reason will read the non responsive situation and let you deal with it. The second solution that seems to be fairly reliable in addition too using the above information, actually it's sometimes absolutely necessary and that is to use the windows task manager in conjunction with the above solutions. This has worked for me 99 percent of the time. Since it's not good to to have to resort to a cold reboot to your computer, and I did read what Mike said about having ideas and not being able to getting a workable solution into the up coming update window-eyes 7.0. However, I stand by my opinion that it should be fixed now. As for one other question that another lister had as to how long should we wait. The answer is I feel that it's a serious bug so therefore, as long as it takes, and further more I feel that window-eyes is the best screen reader. However if it's going to be the most stable and rock solid, this is not what I think that rock solid is all about since it's so easy to crash window-eyes. I have all the confidence in the world in the window-eyes programers, and I believe this window-eyes deficiency can and should be resolved now. [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wayne

It doesn't matter how how difficult or long it takes to resolve this. As a matter of fact this has been going on for along time now. It would happen from time to time in window-eyes 6.1 and of course there are work arounds using paid and free screen readers to inspect what is going on. This works sometimes, but not all the time, however it's not reliable all the time. Therefore it doesn't matter how much time it takes to be resolved for 7.0 because it's been going on in prior versions of window-eyes. The bottom line is if gw-micro's claim that window-eyes screen reader is the most rock solid screen reader, please let's do whatever we can to get it solved for 7.0. We do have ideas and will hopefully do something with them post 7.0.
