The situation that Marvin describes certainly occurred for me using V6.1, but I didn't know how to fix it. Now, with both the Taskkill option and NVDA backup, it's usually very easy to fix. And it's both unfare and naive to call this a screen reader instability problem. If there's a way of immunising the screen reader from problems occurring with other apps, that would be great. But let's not blame Window-Eyes for problems occurring elsewhere in the computer.
