Hi, I am in fact looking at this from the average user. Ok let's say I have to read the status bar if the status bar is always the same then I do not have to learn how to read it for let's say skype and then for gold wave. In fact when set files or scripts are needed they should use keyboard commands that already are used for a function. For example let's say we need to define user window 1 to read the progress of an activity because this program does not use a standard progress bar that the progress command can read. So we then define user window 1 to be the normal progress reading command because then the user in question can just issue a command that he or she is used to and presto. So the more uniform the command structure is the better. Now I am not opposed to solutions that target programs that need them but to dismiss the work that is being done on generic solutions is just not right either.

However, place yourself in the shoes of the average nonsophisticate user. He or she will do better if a script for a given program is available to them as they will have less skills to master. I am not disagreeing with you, Jim, but presenting the other side of the coin -- that's all. Bottom line: I'd like seeing more scripts targeted at specific software regardless of what other developments occur. ----- Mike If I walk with the world, I can't walk with God. Dwight L.
