Hi, I've been using the demonstration version of Window-Eyes 7.2. I'm awaiting my payment plan copy, but until then I'm content to run the demo and then use something like Serotek's System Access screen reading program as an alturnitive. :) I must say that I have exclusively used Windows Seven , Ultimate Sixty-Four Bit, on an Intel 2 core duel laptop, with 4GB of RAM, 2.80GHZ processor, Intel Graphics Media Excelerator onboard mobile video card, Realtek HD Audio sound card, and that's about all the specs I can remember off the top of my head. I have not had sudden shutdowns as you describe Pat, nor have I had losses of speech in any of the areas you have described. I've successfully ran Window-Eyes 7.2 demonstration copy for the full amount of time, and walking away for a bit doesn't result in any speech los. I've seen speech loss to be more commonplace with some of the compotition screen-readers..Ahem..we all know wich one that is! I do have a question though for the rest of you.
How many of you have attempted to use Character Echo, and typed fast with the DecTalk Access32 Window-Eyes synthesizer? When I begin to type fast, it starts not being able to keep up. Unlike Eloquence, wich happily keeps up even with the most wrappid keypresses that I can manage, there appears to be a few seconds of speech loss with that synthesizer. On XP I could not reproduce this. Vista and Seven (because Seven is in fact from Vistas core, and the cores are identicle. You're using a refined version of what Vista should have been.) Basically witht he above operating systems other htan XP, I have been able to notice this. So I use Eloquence where possible. Anyone else encountered this and have a solution to the DECTalk lagging issue? Thanks!
