Hello Pat, it's possible the reason you are experiencing a speech loss
is because some other program you have running is doing something, or
waiting on something and during this wait period, Window-Eyes is
prevented from speaking. Sometimes programs wait for some sort of
response from who knows where, and until this happens, other things
don't work right. Of course it's very noticeable with Window-Eyes
because of speech not responding. if this happened to let's say Winamp
or Media Player, perhaps the music would stop, or would stutter. if it
happened to the browser, perhaps no new web pages would load and it
would appear to be frozen. This also explains why when pressing the
power button, you get speech back for a bit as the machine is shutting
down, because the program which was hauling the system may have been
shut down. So until we can find out what other program you may have
running and which may be contributing to this problem, we won't know
what to suggest. It's annoying for sure and frustrating, but this is
also the reason why not everyone is having the same issue as you.

Many thanks.
