Good point! Do you think that dinging sound anoys me? (smile!) If there was one
easy way to turn it off, I would have done so IMMEDIATELY. Never really
understood why GW added it, but guess someone might have made the request. Yet,
there should have been a way to turn it off; and maybe even a way to change the
actual sound used.
GW staff, here is a clear request for WE8, whenever you decide to release that
one. Make sure, there is a way to get rid of that DING! It blows my ears all
day, to hear DING, DING, DING; even though I only happen to press a certain
keystroke, that WE thinks it has the right to determine if is correct or not.
And, if you have your speech volume set to low, this silly DING, still keeps
going on full volume. Hate it!
But sorry, I never found the setting to turn it off.

Speaking of dinging, is there any way to stop Window-Eyes from triggering the
little default Ding-sound whenever you're trying to delete text from an already
empty edit box? I am a braille-only user, so I want my screenreader to make as
little noise as possible, so to speak.
Cheers!
Davy

Hi Davey and Everyone,
I have noticed the same thing with Window-Eyes. This also happens to
Comma's as well. I have even noticed this action where I'll be sitting on a
letter, to delete, and the letter after that is the one deleted. This makes
editing text a real pain. I don't know why this occurs, however I'm wondering
if it is a matter of Window-Eyes loosing focus.
I've been going to write about this issue for a long time, however, I
figured folks would think I was crazy and didn't know what I was talking about,
however, since you brought it up, I know I'm not crazy. <grin> And, no one else
is crazy, either. <smile> Maybe this has been brought up before, and I've
missed it, not sure.
Another thing I want to bring up, that I think has been brought up before
is this.
Many times, when I do a control-left arrow, or control-right arrow to go
word by word through a line, and all it does is ding. I've even noticed this
when arrowing through words, to check my spelling or typo-s to correct my
mistakes. This is very annoying.
One thing I want to say is, just because all this happens, Davey, don't let
this stop you from using the loving Window-Eyes screen reader. It's excellent.
Nothing in this world is perfect. <smile>

Hello!
I am in the middle of switching to Window-Eyes as my main screenreader,
which is also why I subscribed to some of the GW Micro mailing lists. There is
one quite strange thing, however, that is holding me back, and a quick search
through this list's archives didn't result in a solution. That's why I thought
I'd bring it up.
The problem is that when I am typing some text at a decent speed, a
sentence like "That's nice." comes out as "That's'nice." So something is
putting in an extra apostrophe. I thought that Window-Eyes couldn't be
responsible for that, but when I shut it down I don't get this extra apostrophe.
This strange behavior obviously makes using Window-Eyes a bit of a pain,
so I was hoping there would be something I am forgetting about that would
correct this issue. Any suggestions will be very much appreciated!
Cheers!
Davy
