Well, the re-installation was not a success after all. The first thing I heard
when I booted up this morning was something about Window-Eyes has many set
files from The Tip of the Day. Unfortunately, I still don't know WE well
enough yet to use it for everything and have a version of JAWS configured to
load at startup and I had the original WE installation configured not to load
for anyone at start up. I can't remember where I was in the custom
installation yesterday when I was interrupted by a message that my custom
installation was complete and Window-Eyes would be installed on my computer. I
read an old post I had saved about a problem someone else had with the custom
installation. My problem seems much more bizarre, but it seems that there
might be a bug with 7.5.1 and the custom installation.

I guess I can try bringing up the Quick Startup and see if I can get things
straightened out that way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Subject: Re-installation Nightmare Re: Uninstalling WE 7.5.1

Thanks to everyone who helped me get Window-Eyes uninstalled That part went
just about without a hitch. Re-installing was a nightmare. I got to the part
about press "s" or enter for talking installation and it said please wait and
speech never resumed. The same thing happened when I was finally able to
restart the computer and I loaded JAWS to see if I could find out what was
going on. I was able to click on whatever WE wanted next and the install
proceeded, but not normally. I had unloaded JAWS and there were times when the
install didn't talk and I had to do a
Control -Shift B and click on the appropriate button. I needed to do a custom
install and I was very glad I already knew some basic WE commands since this
installation was possessed! Speech and focus were both inconsistent and it
made no sense. I performed the original installation myself and it went the
way it is described on the tutorial. I think I got to where do you want WE to
go and got the message about your custom install is being put on your computer.
I hadn't finished and I don't know if WE decided that since that was what I
wanted last time to just do the same thing again. I tried to cancel, but it
was another time I had to call on Control-Shift B and I wasn't in time.

The Control Panel will at least load now. I haven't gotten everything I had
configured re-done and am hoping this very strange
installation was successful.

Hello All,

I've somehow totally messed up Window-Eyes. It loads, but, among other
problems, the Control Panel won't load. I'm not finding an uninstall option
under Programs in XP Home with SP3. Do you uninstall it in add and remove
programs in control panel in My Desktop or is there another way you are
supposed to use?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
