probably Metrosene, and probably spelled wrong. :)

As I understand it, the twist and grist of thread
varies from one company to the next, and almost
certainly within a company between fibers and types. 
And this relates to the mechanics of physically making
a stitch, which varies between machines and companies.

So some people turn their noses up at Coats & Clark
cotton-covered polyester thread, as it does not work
in their (often European designed) machines.  They
find it to fluff itself to shreds.  'you must always
use gutermann' they often say.

Now, my main sewing machine is a 1951 cast iron Singer
monstrosity, but has run fine for 20 years in my
ownership.  This machine finds the staple end of
Gutermann three and four and five times in a spool! 
Whereas good ol' Coats & Clark runs just fine.

So, try sewing on your new machine with Gutermann, and
if your machine sews poorly with it, even with
different needles & such, try the recommended brand
and see if it's an improvement.
