Can someone point me to the HL7 interface documentation, if such exists?

Generally speaking, interfaces with external systems are implemented
using HL7 (version 2). VistA doesn't support JDBC directly, but there
are third party tools that could be used. In addition, some additional
protocols, such as DICOM and X12 are also used within VistA.
