I use Verizon DSL and the modem they supplied was a Westell. (Don't have time at the moment to check model number) It has seemed a solid modem. Only twice in more that 3 years have I needed to unplug it and reboot it. I have used it with 3 different models of Netgear routers. (2 wired and one wired/wireless).
May be comparing apples to oranges, but just putting my 2 cents in.
