sure new stuff is better but when I assigned fixed ip's and turned off DHCP in 
my router I could NOT get to the WAN. LAN worked fine. Pretty sure it was 
something I did wrong but I just assimilated and went DHCP. I can set the 
router to reserve ip's on the lan side so in affect fixed ip's with DHCP.
But you have more free time then me to PLAY >:-}
