Thanks Richard,
Yes, I plan to play this one out by the learning I got from this List back
in 99/00
when setting up the 1st go-round. Plan to treat the modem as dumb and go
from there.
Now, I am trying to figure out how to cancel my current dial-up isp. May
leave it
active for a while more...... :)
Best,
Duncan

This is what I mean. I also read about all the features in the new modems.
That's why initially I tried to configure everything. But it didn't work.
So I reset the modem and my router and just configured it as if it were
just a dumb modem and configured my router as you would normally set one
up (I also use mixed static and dynamc IPs) and everything works pretty
well with the exception of needing to reboot the modem and router about
1-2x a year. My Linksys has everything enabled (NAT, SPI, DHCP) and works
fine with the 6100 "DSL2+Router" modem.

True, I do have lots of time to play. But I still remember how my "play"
of years past
really dorked up my LAN. LOL! Assimilated I may become also......
Actually, am amazed at how complex these xdsl modems have become. The
Westell 6100
reads as though it is a single LAN port router with internal firewall and
other creature features
that I associate with a true router. Sheesh. Gonna get a fresh bottle of
aspirin!
