Wayne,
Yes, I understand. I too use static IPs on my LAN (10.0.0.x series) and have no problem with dynamic IP on the WAN side. Same as Verizon xdsl back in 2000.

I have not re-tried the reorder yet. Spent the last several hours reading the pdf's for the Westell and 2Wire modems. First thing I notice is that xdsl modems have gotten much more complex in the last 6 years! Firewalls, DHCP, Port forwarding, DMZ, USB, Sheesh. Beginning to wonder why I bought a new router...... :)

Can I assume that as I RTFM and see reference to an internal IP addy for the modem in the 192.168.x.x series that this is just for discussion? I'd really hate to have to re-address my whole LAN to use the modem......... :) I now realize how much I have not kept up with since 2000. Jeez!
Best,
Duncan

I got completely through the online sign-up but the session bombed on me at the last 'continue.' I avoided the static ip ($14.95/mo) and all the extra 'security' features (monthly rental for additional sw on the pc/pc's).

I had to call because their online ordering for bundled services is not working properly but make sure you tell them that you tried to do it online as there are discounts that are only available online that they'll give you when you call it only if you mention that you had problems.

FWIW I use static IPs on my LAN but not on the WAN [internet] side therefore I don't pay anything extra.
