I'll sorta agree with Greg. No, generally, it should NOT matter.
I buy all psus with an implied 6-month 'infant mortality' grace
period just because of their complexity and purpose.
Greg is correct! Stuff Happens! Been there, seen it, happily,
recovered from it each time, so far.

But, I would ask why your supply was mounted upside-down?
No harm, no foul if the reason is because of air in-flow. I accept
there is a new paradigm with bottom mounted psus. Great idea!
Long overdue IMHO.

However, I spent time last year with a 510W pcp&c that started
acting up badly. It was mounted upside-down. This puts the main
circuit board above all of the heat sinks (as viewed via flashlite).
PSU was pulled and put in suspense. A spare (same) psu was put
back in right-side up and it rocks on to this day!
I put the 'suspense' psu back into service in February; it went
back in right-side up! It rocks on solid to this day. So, heat rises!
YMMV.
Best,
Duncan

Shouldn't. I honestly wouldn't read anything into the failure other than,
well, parts fail and sh** happens.

already received a emailed form to email back for RMA issue. Very quick.

let ya know. Unit was new in January. Mounts upside down in a Lian-Li
case, could that have any effect ?

Have not had to RMA one yet. All parts--even high quality ones--fail, but
how the company handles the RMA is important. The good news is that if
SeaSonic proper sucks at RMAs, there are a number of SeaSonic-OEM'd
units

updated as to how the process works out.

Subject: [H] Seasonic RMA

First Seasonic failure, not that old. runs on a ups.

Trying to RMA but Seasonic website keeps telling me serial number
wrong. Model is a SS-650km but only model in the pull down is for a
x-650km. may be their bug.

This RMA will decide for me if they are worth it. PSU is way more
unit then needed in this box.
p8h67 mb with a i5 2500k
8gb ddr3 1333
2 crucial c300 256mg ssd in raid 0
1 500gb wd ( backup drive with bounceback)
1 dvd burner.

replaced Seasonic with a new Antec 550 I had on the shelf. I like to
have spare parts around, usually PSU and drives new. ( lots of used
parts in the *pile*) 8-)
thanks

Anyone had to RMA a Seasonic PSU yet ?
