Josh,
Yes, I can ping the printer.
Yes, I can talk to "log into" the printer via the browser (http).

The old printer was removed 2 days back. Also removed its' old port,
and its' old drivers.

Each time I try to create a new standard tcp/ip port for this printer,
I am graced with a new wizard window about 'the device is of an
unknown type'.................. :(
If I choose the 'standard' choice of Brother Print Server, I complete the
wizard, but can not print a test page.
If I choose the 'custom' choice I have to make selections between LPR or
RAW ?protocols? and/or agree to what looks like a firewall port of 9100.
Sorry, confused I be ATM.
Duncan

You did say that you could ping and http the printer from the pc, right?

Have you tried to delete the printer and re-add it from scratch?
