Josh, Yes, I can ping the printer. Yes, I can talk to "log into" the printer via the browser (http).
The old printer was removed 2 days back. Also removed its' old port, and its' old drivers. Each time I try to create a new standard tcp/ip port for this printer, I am graced with a new wizard window about 'the device is of an unknown type'.................. :( If I choose the 'standard' choice of Brother Print Server, I complete the wizard, but can not print a test page. If I choose the 'custom' choice I have to make selections between LPR or RAW ?protocols? and/or agree to what looks like a firewall port of 9100. Sorry, confused I be ATM.
