I was at the nearby public library and politely asked a librarian to help me print out a color attachment from an Email, which contained a forthcoming article I wrote for a journal. I've been retired from our profession for quite a few years now, and admit my computer skills are not the best. After she finished sending the article to a color printer, she said in a most condescending and haughty manner: "I guarantee you weren't paying attention to how I did this." She was totally wrong, as I was paying very close attention, to her navigating the computer's prompts. She wasn't expecting my curt reply: "I'm a retired library director, and I would have never talked to a patron like that." It is no secret that that the people in our profession still have a less than positive image. It is librarians such as the one I unfortunately encountered today who cause that to be the case. If others on Hasafran want to comment about this, I would like to read their postings.
