[~elgoiri] I'm attaching a patch again to see if it can get past the flaky
tests.
There are some checkstyle errors reported, but I ask that you please ignore
these. It is complaining about line indentation, however the entire method has
incorrect indentation so if I correct it in this patch, it will look very out
of place with the rest of the code.
Please consider for inclusion into the project. Thanks.
