used 2" foil tape to attempt to seal the edges of 1" R-Max and it's a shit 
of a job because there's not quite enough overlap (especially trying to do 
it yourself.) So I wouldn't want to use anything less than 3" on 1.5" 
boards.

Personally, I've used all sorts of cheap foil tape. It's actually a benefit

I don't think you want it to peel off ever, do you? And I can deal with the 
logos (though I just had a look at the 3M catalogue and it's not showing 
any logos on their "425" aluminium tape.)
