I agree that a blousy shirt with knee-length baggy pants is the best overall
costume for many centuries. It's easy to wear as well. Add a leather belt
and pouch around your waist as well as tall boots and you are good to go.
Both these items can be found in Halloween costume patterns. Folkwear
patterns are nice, but not necessarily for beginners. Simplicity patterns
offers both of these items in a simpler style. You can also buy these from
any number or Rennaissance Faire merchants. Type in renaissance shirt for a
search or go to ebay. You can also type in SCA shirt for an ebay search and
