I'm running DM as well. I was reading around on message boards and tried
several methods people were suggesting. None of them really worked, but they
got me thinking in the right vein and I tried the following and now the
debugger works:

In the project properties I had -map "blah" as part of the Execute line. I
took that out for each project, and now the debugger works fine, no whining
about steamclient.dll. I load up a map and no problem. The only other thing I
tried that seemed to help (it got rid of the CScopedCriticalSection messages)
was to run regular HL2 DM from steam. So that might need to be used in tandem
as well.

Hope this helps

I'm running hl2:dm as the code-base.

I know its not much, but are you runing hl2:dm or
hl2:sp?

Nightfall, even though we have not made any shader
changes yet, are going well and have had no crashes,
and we are useing the hl2:sp...

It might help with some of us that are having issues
to know what code base is giving what effect
