Hmm... I'm still unable to get my mod to work when being launched from VS.
Same errors as before. I've tried using all of the tips you guys have left
but nothing as of yet. The sourcesdk env variable you are referring to, is
this in VS or Windows? Could you provide a example key-value pair?

And any word on Valve as to a REAL solution? It's kind of disturbing that
they haven't responded to any of our issues (I know that I at least check my
work e-mail on the weekends).

crashes

Your post gave me some hope since I was having the same error but I used
the standalone SDK. I managed to get my mod working by setting the
working directory in the Project's Debugging properties to the location
of the HL2 executable. I then noticed that the sourcesdk environment
variable wasn't set either so I bet it just couldn't find the dll where
the ScopeSection procedure is.

several methods people were suggesting. None of them really worked, but
they got me thinking in the right vein and I tried the following and now the
debugger works:

I took that out for each project, and now the debugger works fine, no
whining about steamclient.dll. I load up a map and no problem. The only
other thing I tried that seemed to help (it got rid of the
CScopedCriticalSection messages) was to run regular HL2 DM from steam. So
that might need to be used in tandem as well.
