Wow - that's some serious Opteron asskicking. Just wondering though, as hlds is not multithreaded: would it make much of a difference for a single server to be run on a single CPU? I'm inclined to say no, but hey, I'm the newbie around town :) > I'll be posting a large review when I have all the details > Switched OS's to linux yesterday but was getting total junk > stats, see the "OT: /proc, top, ps broken in some linux > kernels?" thread for details. Sounds like a great initiative! Are you going to be sharing your findings with Valve? Keep up the good work, and I'd (we'd?) be happy to get any preliminary results as well :) Cheers, Marnix > Steve / K > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "BeNt" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Sent: Wednesday, June 02, 2004 1:55 PM > Subject: Re: [hlds] CPU use - or how to run a 32 player HLDS > > > > Sorry to reply to the same thread twice....but you may want to get > > ahold of Steven Hartland on this list if you are serious > about going > > dual 64bits.He has been doing quite a bit of information > gathering for > > his GSP.I can't remember his website off hand but Steven > pitch in and > > tell this fella where to go for some stats :) > > > > ================================================ > This e.mail is private and confidential between Multiplay > (UK) Ltd. and the person or entity to whom it is addressed. > In the event of misdirection, the recipient is prohibited > from using, copying, printing or otherwise disseminating it > or any information contained in it. > > In the event of misdirection, illegible or incomplete > transmission please telephone (023) 8024 3137 or return the > E.mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > _______________________________________________ > To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list > archives, please visit: > http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds > _______________________________________________ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
