Whisper - I think you are on to something. To further experiment;

I took 20 more SOURCE Servers with bots. All running de_dust (though I
have already eliminated it being any of the standard maps). I set
timelimit to 15 and then waited.

Over a 12 hour period my logs show sporadic crashes at various times but
a certain trend every 15 minutes.

We have had them with default installs, mid round, at respawn, but
mostly at
map change.
 Tried changing the heapsize and that only appeared to make things
worse.
 Windows 2003 & Dual Xeon CPU's.
