I agree the onboard sound cards stink. I run a Live:24bit HD card. When I play source on my laptop I use the built in sound card but to tell you the truth I don't hear much difference in the two. I guess my ears could be bad but I hear the same complaints over and over from different people about the sound quality and they are running much better cards than I am.
