This works both ways, the player that actively looks for a vanilla server,
will find one easy.
By clicking the "Internet" tab.

The player that just wants to find any server to play on, will find one
easy.
By clicking the "Custom" tab.

You might not like that analysis but it's a fact ;p  Tabs are more prominent
than one more check box hidden at the bottom that people don't touch.  Although
either way you do it a big flashing arrow with a message the first time people
log on is the only form of education I can see working atm.
