This might help fix the timeout/reconnect issue. But it still doesn't
help you to determine which player is the legitimate owner of the key

player just for using the same key as another player.
Totally agree.
I disagree. Caveat emptor. Life isn't always fair, even for the $10
you paid for 2 CD-keys at a computer show. Check the box before you buy
software. The little plastic circles they use to seal boxes cannot
usually be torn off without leaving obvious evidence without some
serious effort being put into it. Etc, etc, etc. I could go on, but
seriously, you've got to draw a line somewhere. Yes, a little realism
and perspective is necessary. If two people end up using it at the same
time, ok, whatver. Maybe a warning, a 24-hour ban, or something
similarly non-life-threatening. If 130984 people are using it, just
invalidate it and move on.
I remember reading an article on OGC site about a guy at a Walmart or
somewhere, who would open all the HL boxes grab the key, then reseal
them. He was bragging about a list of keys that exceeded 5000.
Ah, so some attention-starved, 32-year-old guy living in his parent's
basement claims to have fooled THOUSANDS of people, avoiding anyone
seeing him rifling through cartons of boxes, tediously removing the
seals so as to not tear the package, removing box contents, writing down
CD-keys on a legal pad or whatever, and tediously resealing
stacks--hell, entire shipments--of boxes. He boasts about something on
a big cheater board to make himself look cool, and you're suddenly very
trusting of this mysterious masked man of . I realize they (probably)
don't have Wal-Marts in NZ, but trust me, if you've ever been in one
you'd know that it would take a lot of people involved and a lot to go
right to pull off something that massive.
I'm willing to bet money that most CD-keys out there floating around on
"h4x" lists are from the dirty cheat files out there, harvesting CD-key
information and who knows what else. Got zombie?
