Matt, have you ever worked in an environment that produces and updates software ?
Regression testing is one of the most important stages of releasing updates to software and is most probably done on a set number of tests, but you can appreciate that circumstances outside of the developers controls are different and can generate unknown problems. Can you name a company that can get this right for every product release/update ? I think not... Also why would valve want to generate extra work to ensure a 3rd party mod works ? Go complain to the people who made that not on this list!
