I am secure in the knowledge of myself. The opinions of others do not
matter outside of my trusted friends and respected work colleagues.
Reflect as you wish.

I support a community who have paid me to use my hardware, and my spare time to
continue to provide the quality of service they have been used to since July 2000.

Therein lies your choice. You don't HAVE to run anything, if you do run servers you can choose to not run hlds. Its up to you. If customers want to run hlds on one of your servers, then its YOUR CHOICE to let them run it or not and attempt to support it if that is the level of support you provide. If you are taking money for this service then thats entirely up to you. If you get grief from your customers because you chose to let them run hlds on your hardware when you know the issues with it. Then that is your fault not valves for not informing them of the issues before you let them install it.

_not_customers_

You seem to be confused. I am not a business and, as such I do not have
customers. This is a community which has players representing most (if
not all) of the countries in Europe. We have had a number of social
events both here, in England, and in France. Unlike a business, where I
have no personal affection for those I am taking money from, a community
has feelings, and as such I have to take them into account when I am
making changes to my server. It is this regard I have for 'my'
community which I see lacking in the way Valve treats its community, and
is the cause of most of my annoyance with Valve.

you can just walk away.

No, I can't actually.

YES YOU CAN but dont moan about your customers "not getting a level of drone drone drone bore"
on this list. Valve are well aware of the issues before you "enlightened" them *yawn*.

_not_customers_

Yes, you clearly only listen to yourself and your own self importance.
Considering some of these issues have been ongoing for over a year, it
is not apparent that Valve have acknowledged that there is a problem or
that they are doing anything about it.

I have tried to close my server twice,

Make a decision once. Stick to it.

How narrow minded.

I do not choose to use their product (see above).

You are the one that owns the hardware that your customers use. If you are concerned with what
your customers are running (hlds) then that is your responsibility to inform them of the
situation with the software and tell them that "valve have already been informed of the
issues with hlds" and that it is nothing to do with your hardware (dont pass on their moans
to the list). If they don't understand that, then it is your fault for allowing them to run hlds
in the first place when you were aware of the situation.

_not_customers_

I really can't be arsed to reply to the rest of your diatribe, and you
have clearly not bothered to read, properly, anything that I have
written, whilst having no understanding of netiquette when it comes to
trimming posts and trolling. If you have anything else to say, please
respond to me directly, and lets save everyone else having to read this
crap too.

Matt.
