Sorry if any confusion, I was _only_ relating the kernel settings to the
comment earlier about comparing server fps, not cpu, meaning you will get a
lower max fps, and thats not an issue with valve (or with Linux, as you
could recompile or a use a different dist/kernel).


The main problem here, is that whilst all the comments are extremely valid,
it's unlikely that actually anything will get done, unless people provide a
standard set of figures and testing that Valve can't ignore.

If people post their specs, settings and then maybe a graph of cpu usage
(maybe on different maps and player numbers), then I think it may be easier
for either a trend to be seen, or Valve to realise there is actually a
problem. As it is, its hard to pluck anything concrete out (apart from
people believe there's a problem, but its not enough really no matter how
true it is without something more specific provided to them)
