-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] Alfred, Thanks for the quick response! =) Glad to see some solid feedback. As for testing, is your Debian server the server used to either give the thumbs up or down for releases after they are frozen and compiled into binaries? Is the kernel kept up-to-date with Etch or is it sitting on the default kernel packaged with Etch. Also, what kind of testing is done to ensure the system is in fact working properly? I think running at least two instances of the server would be very beneficial, and if possible, adding some sort of testing into a sub-zero nice value for both processes would be very beneficial (even -5 causes the same issues as -20, anything below 0 is a problem).
And lastly, I would assume that since Debian Etch is the testing platform, that it could be considering (either officially or unofficially) the preferred platform for running SourceDS? I'm just trying to find something that can be standardized so I can eliminate the "It's your kernel/OS/*insert package version here* to blame" game that seems to happen a lot. Also, I'd be more than willing to show and point out a few major issues aside from the ones the developers are working out that are easily repeatable in our server environment (system locking up with dual -20 nice values, banned_users/ip being emptied out on server initialization and needing re-written via console). And lastly, if any of the devs have any general (or specific) suggestions or comments about how to make things run better, please pass those along if possible. As always, I appreciate your help Alfred! =) -tsuehpsyde SourceKills.com On 7/31/07, Alfred Reynolds <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Our linux platforms are aimed at being stable development platforms, NOT > at being production servers.
