I can say I know running those fake servers is a dick move, some people ask why we use them the main reason is because valve never did anything for the past year that myself and many others have asked them to fix this. I remember the Q clan running 33+ fake servers for over a year along with faking player counts on their real servers so that was over 50 servers. http://club-destroyed.com/fakeclients.jpg There was just a few that I took a screen shot of when Q clan was running those. This is not just a tf2 issue, [-Q-] had who knows how many people getting screwed over in CSS, I notice that the [SiX] group is running the same thing as well for Tf2 and css. Valve did nothing about this then so last month I though hell why not. Valve should just fix their side so it blocks the fake clients itself. It's not that hard if you ask me, every game tracking website out there pretty much blocks the fake client servers from being ranked. Or at least they block the servers without any real person playing does not show up. I noticed when someone was really in a fake server it showed up on their list. but only as 1/32. http://www.game-monitor.com/search.php?search=96.48.175.152:27015 If they can do that why does valve not do the same thing? Here is another clan I notice doing the same thing for the past few months. 216.6.236.151:27015 24/7 Goldrush/Badwater [FastRespawn/HLstatsX] 216.6.236.135:27015 24/7 Dustbowl [Fast Respawn/HLstatsX] 216.6.236.148:27015 24/7 Rotation Server [Customs/HLstatsX] 216.6.236.150:27015 24/7 Payload [Customs/HLstatsX] I noticed that they redirect to these servers 216.83.33.145:27015 (-TN-) 24/7 BADWATER/GOLDRUSH - HLSTATSX/RECRUITING 216.83.33.146:27015 (-TN-) 24/7 DUSTBOWL - FASTRESPAWN/HLSTATSX/RECRUITING 216.83.33.147:27015 (-TN-) PAYLOAD ROTATION - HLSTATSX/RECRUITING 216.83.33.148:27015 (-TN-) ROTATION SERVER - HLSTATSX/RECRUITING Redirect/fake servers worked for that clan, I remember his servers being empty 23/7 for a good year then one day all of his servers magically got full. I kind of laugh at the few above though, poor guy is renting those fake servers so he can use it as a redirect. Guess he did not know his home connection is able to run them fine. I don't mind closing my fake servers down myself, just rather see valve fix this issue so it can stop the other servers I notice doing this for css and tf2. [SiX] use this but in a way thats harder to tell for most people. They run the same thing as [-Q-] has it would show fake scores and ping on their fake clients. I'm using just shows a empty server if you view the game info so it's pretty easy to tell who's using it. All I want is a fix for this whole thing, as a person can run as many fake servers as they want on a server. Mine have not been delisted and it's been running for a month now. Even if someone is able to run this for a week before valve delists them, how hard is it to switch their ip if it's run at a data center? Even at their house... Delisting their servers I'm sure will not stop people from doing this, it just needs a fix. Sorry to those who are not running fake clients. http://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=74304 Maybe if valve see's how the script works they could fix it? I sure hope so. > Date: Sun, 15 Mar 2009 11:28:18 +0100 > From: [email protected] > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] TF2 Delisting > > I got a friend to try 2 of them, and they redirected to: > > 208.115.117.85:27015 (^) ROTATION SERVER - HLSTATSX/RECRUITING ClanWoof.com > 208.115.117.84:27015 (^) 24/7 BADWATER/GOLDRUSH - HLSTATSX/RECRUITING > ClanWoof.com > > Searching in the server browser, there are some others with similar > ip/names, I guess it's the others servers they redirect to: > > 208.115.116.51:27016 (^) Custom Maps - HLSTATSX/RECRUITING ClanWoof.com > 208.115.116.56:27015 (^) 24/7 EGYPT - HLSTATSX/RECRUITING ClanWoof.com > 208.115.116.57:27016 (^) Payload Rotation - HLSTATSX/RECRUITING ClanWoof.com > 208.115.117.86:27015 (^) 24/7 2Fort - HLSTATSX/RECRUITING ClanWoof.com > 208.115.117.87:27015 (^) 24/7 2FORT #2 - HLSTATSX/RECRUITING ClanWoof.com > > 2009/3/15 AnAkIn . <[email protected]> > > > I don't have TF2 here, I can't check. > > > > I see people being disconnected immediately after connecting, that's why I > > guess they are redirect. > > > > 2009/3/15 ics <[email protected]> > > > > Did you check where they redirect to?
