i noticed all the extra dl's as well. on our linux servers. it took for
ever...

on this same note. after DODS not updating fully on my client. i figured i
would restart steam,but before i did i opt in the beta in  SETTINGS section.
it did it's download and said to restart steam.
It is now hung in a loop going to 26% then starting over. does this a few
times ,then gives the error:

Steam is temporarily unavailable. please try later.

With that being said it sounds like something is getting over loaded
somewhere.
