hah, if only... Cisco would be booming on the stock market, prices for network hardware would skyrocket so high....
No, as I said, there will be a very long transition period to get everybody to move over. You have to understand that 2nd hand equipment must have IPv6 support for getting thru and thru to the market on poorer countries. As I said, both will coexist for a very long time. Not to mention to be able to support old games like TF2... hmm, anybody ever did IPX over IPv6? got some old games lying about that I'd like to play vs friends in 2020 ;) The last IPv4's where given out, only the far east has some spare still I think (didn't really follow all that). Heard companies put up some mailbox companies there to get their hands on a range there. I also noticed companies buying other companies for their IPv4 ranges some while ago already. So IPv4 is getting quite scarce. Once that gets too expensive for the remaining players, IPv6 will get a huge boost, and those IPv4 ranges will be worth less. Consumers will still want IPv4 support for a long time for older games, while webservers won't really need to support it anymore for consumers have support for both. They will kick off IPv4 off their servers, making it a small range to connect with to phase it out. But all that won't be done in 1 year, more in like ... 5-10 years (my personal guesstimate) so that job transitioning to IPv6 and supporting both will be for some time to come. >________________________________ > From: Sam Newsome (Rizla) <[email protected]> >To: Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list ><[email protected]> >Sent: Friday, 31 May 2013, 1:23 >Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] [HLDS_LINUX] Mandatory TF2 update released > > >I'm with BT and have IPv6 > >I believe IPv4 is being phased out in 2014? or thats its EOL > >-Rizla > >On 30/05/2013 22:20, lee bailey wrote: >> I cant see British Telecom implementing ipv6 for a VERY long time, they are >> stuck in the 80s >> >> >> On Thu, May 30, 2013 at 9:48 PM, Aridane Manuel Ojeda Sánchez < >> [email protected]> wrote: >> >>> Remind Fletcher Dunn on December 28 to comunícate it :) >>> >>> Maybe we believe to be true... >>> >>> >>> El jueves, 30 de mayo de 2013, Mart-Jan Reeuwijk escribió: >>> >>>> Its a joke, I missed that there was no update last night, so I made some >>>> up for things I've been missing for a long time: >>>> >>>> Source Engine and Team Fortress 2 Changes >>>> - Fixed recorded demo video export to various video formats (AVI, h264). >>>> - Fixed broken Replay downloads on clientside not working. >>>> - Removed requirements to have QuickTime installed when using Replay >>> video >>>> recording to TGA + WAV. >>>> - Added killfeed to Replay. >>>> - Added cl_autorecord, a automatic demo recording convar, which saves >>>> demo's and in a separate text file with the same name the exact ticks the >>>> kills / assists / deaths / respawns / dominations happened.
