Kind of small sample to make a sweeping generalization from. My group may be
an exception, though few other US based contributors make me thing it's a
small minority making a lot of noise.  The group I joined three years ago
had one guy who been pricipal for many years.  He just felt it was time to
move down.  Every once in a while a piece would come up he wanted to play
first on and the switch was made.  Then he would move back to third.

I'm 100% with you - I have never ever seen in UK the sort of rivalry being
cited on this list.  i think it may be a cultural difference.
