OK, no replies to that, so here's what I tried yesterday in hopes of at least using the roll holder as a roll holder, if not a feeder. I removed the cleanout with the two feed slots, and the left roll mechanism. (BTW, if there's a motor in there, why doesn't it DO anything? It doesn't take up the paper, all feed operations are done inside the printer?) There's an electrical connection between the mechanism and the cleanout, so I put Scotch tape over the pins on the mechanism, thinking the printer would not recognize that was installed. I plugged the power directly into the printer, bypassing the roll mechanism, and then put it all back together. I tried feeding the paper through the upper slot (in reading the archives here, it seems that's what the folks using the hom made roll holders do), and while it would take the paper in, it spit it back out. I tried using the feed paper button on the front, I tried leaving plenty of slack on the roll, I tried doing an actual print out of Photoshop, but in no case could I get the printer to feed in paper off that roll and print on it. Any suggestions? BTW, the roll feed slot still seems blocked, is that because the roll mechanism has to open it? It will feed a cut sheet off the roll, but then it wants to accept it narrow edge first, which is also a royal PITA. Not to mention it's also a pain to try and cut off the roll. Yes, I know I need to replace the part, but with state gov't purchasing God knows how long that will take, so I'm trying to stay working. The table I am using for the printer is just large enough for the printer, there's no room to add a PVC roll holder behind it. I would have thought that someone would do a writeup on using the PVC roll holder (how to feed, settings, things to trip you up) for the files section of the list on Yahoo, but there's not a thing there. :( Website: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HPDesignJet_Printers Post message: [email protected] Subscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: [EMAIL PROTECTED] List owner: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo!
