Hi Tedddy, Thanks for explaining Linearization. I guess this would be a good example of the kind of tweaks a RIP like this would make available. I always wonder about tweaking things this way. I guess if you are doing this you are primarily looking at a single image or maybe a group of similar images to improve in a very specific way? Would you want to make Profiles of the tweaked condition? I use the Soft Proofing in Photoshop extensively. Would these kinds of tweaks be so subtle that they might be lost in a soft proof. Or is that not the way to use such a maneuver?
The point may be moot after all...because although the PosterJet has Mac Clients...it does not have a Mac Server *:-( We are Mac totally, but don't expect to be buying the MacIntel which boots Windows very soon and have ample computers that are serving us well at this point). It took me a while to realize this fact. (I guess I'm a bit overworked as of late). Is there a Mac based (PowerPC) Software RIP for the HPDJ Z3100 out there? Looks like it may have to be HP comm slot RIP for me. Here it's called calibration, but the principle is similar. A pattern is printed and then measured. The density that is and this is then compared to what it's supposed to be.
