Hi Tom, What we have here are two different things. You have media profiles and then there are ICC profiles. The linearization is part of the media profile. The icc profile resides on the PC and is used as the input of the color management engine. The media profile is used on the output side.
I think the EFI has a MAC client version too. The point may be moot after all...because although the PosterJet has Mac Clients...it does not have a Mac Server *:-( We are Mac totally, but don't expect to be buying the MacIntel which boots Windows very soon and have ample computers that are serving us well at this point). It took me a while to realize this fact. (I guess I'm a bit overworked as of late). Is there a Mac based (PowerPC) Software RIP for the HPDJ Z3100 out there? But sometimes, due to various factors, like drop volume, temp etc, you want to tweak the system a bit to make sure you get what you want. That's called linearizing. The HP printers do this as well. Here it's called calibration, but the principle is similar. A pattern is printed and then measured. The density that is and this is then compared to what it's supposed to be.
