Hi Teddy, >media profiles and then there are ICC profiles. I had read about this, and I like the concept. I also read that they are now calling the media profiles "media presets" to avoid confusion with ICC Profiles.
I think I get the concept (I'm imagining rather than doing because I haven't gotten a printer yet), but actually what I meant was this. Wouldn't what ever you do to change the characteristics of how the printer prints (in this case linearization), need to be profiled, if you intend to reflect those changes in the soft proofing you are doing in Photoshop? I hope this more clearly explains my interpretation. I can't wait to actually get the machine and start playing, but in the meantime it sure is fun to dream.
