It's called thermal inkjet for a reason ;-) Cool ink is heated by the heads in a narrow channel, expands, partly evaporates and ink is "squirted" this way onto the paper. But there is no use in preheating the heads or the ink. In fact, printhead overheating can actually a problem on the big guns, esp with old heads when the channels are already partially clogged and cool ink cannot flow quickly enough to keep the circle going.
