Definitely not. This is not a big deal, just a tweak. Some odd
critters end up in every project to some extent so all projects
benefit from the occasional tune up.
True, true!
Perhaps Hugin could offer 2 UIs, the way the ZynAddSubFx music
synthesizer does: Beginning, Advanced. Easy to switch between. Beginning
gives you the functionality you need to get started making music with
it. Advanced lets the expert dig into every tiny little detail.
(ZynAddSubFx' Advanced UI pretty much assumes you're at least conversant
with the theory and practice of sound synthesis.)
I'm not familiar with them.

Basic (sorry, not Beginning) UI lets you adjust master volume, select an
instrument, select some audio effects, and provides an on-screen keyboard.
Advanced UI gives you the detailed adjustments for selected instrument,
detailed adjustments for the audio effects, a toolbar for
recording/pausing/stopping. No ons-screen keyboard, author figures that
advanced users have an external MIDI keyboard set up.
