Yeah, two of my chanterelles are gut (I normally only use one, a G), and one is synthetic core/metal wound viola string (low G - corelli crystal viola 4th I think)... Since I still do not have replacement strings (I am getting some really soon), I'm very weary of using anything that could damage the gut strings... Oh, and my cottoning still sucks big time, I hope it gets easier with time, LOL... (on my gut string I still put too much cotton, I think, because the higher part of the scale is always off...)
