My gurdy is particularly heavy. It is a Volksgurdy wedge from Olympic Musical
Instruments. I found that using a single strap was not working. It was so heavy
that it was sliding down and forcing me to "lean" over to play. It was very
uncomfortable. I went to a man who does leather work and he made me a heavy
belt. This helped a little but not enough. I went back to him and he made me a
second strap that is thinner than the belt. The strap hooks on the lower button
on the tail of the gurdy. It does go under the belt, over my shoulder and then
we found that attaching it to the other end of the belt was far better than
hooking it onto the head piece strap button. The man who made it an I fiddled
with it until we had it in exactly the right location. It is extremely secure
and very comfortable. Both the strap and belt are adjustable with buckles and
look great.

After years of playing sitting down I would like to learn to play standing up.
Ok no real problem, except, that I value my gurdies more than money. One strap
is very precarious. I know when I was at St.Chartier people played with two
straps. Can anyone recommend a safe and comfortable way to play standing up or
walking around. JON
