Well my whole idea is to get away from any other sequencers
and try and do everything in RM1x. It is a lot more
impulsive for making music (I hope :)

I am hoping to sequence everything on the RM1x, then record
each track seperately into an Audio app for further
processing.

But I guess it's just finding a way of working which suits
one best.

Anyway, after some surfing I found the following post, which
may help:

>CAN YOU RECORD MUTES ?
Yes, but you cannot edit them.
>IN PATTERN MODE ?
Yes . . . BUT here's the way I made it work : It seems like
you must select
the track you want to mute (i.e. bass GTR) as your record
track. So use
realtime overdub as your record mode, press RECORD then
select mute mode by
pressing that button, then press play and record any mute
moves for that
track only. Regretably your mute moves do not appear in the
edit list - so
you can't edit them - you'd have to use UNDO and do a second
pass.
>OR SONG MODE ?
Yes . . . Here's the way I made it work : Use the
"convert-to-song" job to
bring your pattern (from Pattern-chain mode) into song mode
will ALL your
tracks unmuted. Now select Realtime MULTITRACK-OVERDUB as
your record mode.
Select ANY track as your record track. Press record and
select MUTE mode.
Now press the mute buttons for any track that you want the
track to begin
with. Press play and continue recording the mute moves for
the rest of the
track. Once again it seems you cannot edit that mute
information, so get it
right.
By the way, if any tracks are muted in PATTERN mode and you
select "convert
to song" job in PATTERN-CHAIN mode, you will find those
tracks not present
in song mode.

Regards,

Menno
