It's vital that those who misuse "USS" appreciate that it can cause the correct "USS" when it is used correctly from being misinterpreted by those who may not be familiar with USS, even denied by those who are familiar with what it describes and, worst of all, denied with apologies! All this can be appreciated only when the relevant posts in the thread "Mainframe hacking" are connected to this thread. This is nothing to do with language and everything to do with understanding and respect for fellow list subscribers - and, even, as recently rediscovered, routing of maintenance queries. There is also a current thread in which it has been revealed - to some! - that as recently as V1R8, the USS function - as used by the TN3270 server - has been enhanced to use system symbols in USS messages - by popular demand, no less! And the TN3270 server developers and manual authors botched it!!!
