Well, if you're willing to accept the consequences. One of the local insurance companies signed onto auto-maint with AS/400 and got bit a couple years back when it destroyed their production data. They were only down 72 hours while the Marketing rep downloaded the updated CD and drove 60 miles to do the upgrade/
reinstall.

What consequences ?
Why do you think the new solution will be bad ?
Having that DB2 would never appear, the same for almost any new thing in IT.
Sometimes I observe such approach: do not touch anything. Usually problems arise when the change is a must, i.e. WLM goal mode.
