Good points, but there is another factor: sickness.

Our world has become much better at handling physical sickness problems - and 
we hope this progress will continue. However, we have not become much better at 
handling mental sickness issues - and perhaps we have become worse in this 
direction. IMO, we are facing a mental sickness issue here.
