I don't know. I only use the GUI, IBM does everything else here.
I think, if you have access to these internals, you must know what is right and
what is wrong before you can correct anything.
I hope IBM will tell you what was wrong and how they corrected it, and possibly
what you can do yourself next time.

Kees.

I think we powered down and up three time but all before IBM fixed it. Do you
think that may correct the degraded issue on the vnode and hnode?

Anne,

The @-signs in the D M=CHP(42)output indicate that the virtual units are
available, but not responding.
This could indicate that the V-node was not working (correctly).

We have seen several occasions of deamons that had stopped, did not start or
were hanging. Possibly this was your problem too and this was fixed by IBM
after dialing in.

Did you retry the power down/up cycle? This could have got the faulty deamons
running.

Kees.

Thank you for all the people that responded! We did have to issue a PO for
time and material and finally got IBM to correct it by dialing in. The tech
did not tell me how he did it and if we could have done it ourselves through
the console. Believe me, we dug through it for hours! Tape began working
around 11pm last night so at least we got it fixed before Monday morning!

Wild idea. Have you tried to do a soft activate?

Or, are there any Messages in syslog related to IODEF issues?

It seems the HCD does not seem to match what the system thinks is there.
